Finally the Day 5 of the US Open 2010 brings a sigh of relief for the players who got some relaxation over burning heat with the rain showers. However there was slight drizzling but was enough to bring down the temperature a bit which was affecting the players’ game.
The first weekend at the tournament was blessed for the seeded players who were being proved unlucky for the last 4 days.
Men’s (Seeded Players) -Results
The straight sets victory of Rafael Nadal over unseeded Denis Istomin was the highlight of the day. Istomin began the set poorly but came in form and gave tough competition to Nadal and brought the 2nd set into a tie break, but Nadal fighting for the title won the tie break (5) that took him to 3rd round.
The 4th seed, Andy Murray made an easy win over Dustin Brown. The first set was played with high spirits but then Murray took control of the match and finished off in ease. Murray is expected to play against Rafa in the semis which would be a hell tough fight to watch.
The 29th seed Philipp Kohlschreiber was the only seed on day 5 who could not make it to the next round, and lost in a 5 set thriller, to Gilles Simon.
