Dare County NC residents are ordered to evacuate the place ahead of Hurricane Earl.

According to reports, Dare County NC is the second county where officials ordered the visitors to evacuate Hatteras Island as they fear that high waves would wash over N.C Highway 12, the largest road along the Outer Banks.

Officials said that are monitoring the path of Hurricane Earl so that they can timely decide other evacuations from Dare County NC.

While parts of Dare County NC are yet to receive evacuation orders, the Ocracoke Island in neighboring Hyde County is under mandatory evacuation and ferries started evacuation process shortly after 6 a.m. to take people to mainland.

North Carolina Emergency Management Department officials said that they are evacuating people to mainland in a 2 1/2 hour trip while the Emergency Services Director Lindsey Mooney said that she hoped that residents will also follow the visitors from Ocracoke Island. Ocracoke Island has around 800 residents.

The governor of Virginia has declared a state of emergency as Hurricane Earl bears down on the coastal states with winds of 125 mph.
