She stated that these people are fighting for their rights, they want their existence to be recognized and they are not begging for anything they demand their rights. Previously people of Singur had also done the same as their rights were not being protected.

The people of Lalgarh took arms in their hands when they got fed up of the killings that the police officers were doing. The police had killed several poor and innocent villagers. The innocent women were badly treated while they were asleep; they were even tortured to death. A leader of the local area was also killed in these brutal acts while he was sleeping. The people demand that the West Bengal government should reply the people about their questions regarding these brutal acts of their state police. Patkar added that the government of the state has said that they object the Maoist acts and now they are doing the same acts with the help of their cops.

She also stated that position of Lalgarh cannot be stabilized until the government starts giving equal rights to all the people. There should be no difference between the rich and the poor in the eyes of the state. Patkar stated that she would keep on protesting until the government of India does not cancel the project of SEZ. Under the project the poor farmers are forced to hand over their lands for the construction of Industries.
