Over on the Democrat side of things, it was Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero that won the Democratic nod, but could face a steep climb to try and win back the Governor’s seat in a state that is suffering huge unemployment numbers.

Some of the key elections that the Michigan primaries have set up include Rocky Raczkowski vs. Gary Peters for the 9th district, Sander Levin vs. a new challenger for a Michigan seat in Congress, and of course the battle to decide what will happen to the Governor’s seat in Michigan. Can the Democrat’s retain control of that seat? Or will the swinging tide in the state convince voters that it is time to see what a Republican politician can do in that position? The election is about three months away from deciding that outcome.
